Frank,

They did Jas for James, so why not Jno for John or the longer Jonathan.

It reminded me that the old Family Search site didn't recognise all the
variants of Jno, John and Jonathan or Jonathon under Soundex. I'm not sure
about the new site

Best to try all variants or look if the results have different
variations.
