Thanks Caroline,

In my Bolsterstone records I have this burial 27th Dec 1812:

George DYSON a private soldier. The CTs note "son of the above Elizabeth
JACKSON".
(An Elizabeth DYSON, widow, was buried 1810)

At the pro I found this:

GEORGE DYSON Born ECCLESFIELD, Yorkshire Served in 102nd Foot Regiment; 17th
Foot Regiment; 44th Foot Regiment; 55th Foot Regiment; 87th Foot Regiment;
48th Foot Regiment; 8th Royal Veteran Battalion Discharged aged 51 after 27
years 3 months of service Covering dates give year of enlistment to year of
discharge.
1784-1811

us is thinking it's the same one :-)) will check if I ever get to the PRO

Cheers Jane

These are the first 20 of 226 records for York from the
http://catalogue.pro.gov.uk/ site. You can search by town and see what
soldiers served. You need to put WO in the appropriate box or you get
swamped with files, for the York soldiers I put 'born York' as my search
words to cut down on files. Hope that helps some of you new folk who have
not yet discovered this site
Cheers
Caroline
