Subject: SINGLETON - HOWDEN

Hi All,
I am reposting an edited version of my message as I did receive two replies which, unfortunately, had dodgy attachments. As they could have been genuine responses i.e. saved and replied to. I thought I would try again.

According to the Howden Minster M.Is there are several families that have used the name Singleton as second given names. This is a common practice in my own family viz. my G. grandmother was EMMELINE ADA S. Could it be that the other families using the name are related? There are:-

BLAND - CHARLES SINGLETON - killed in action 15th September 1916.

BOWMAN - CHARLES SINGLETON - died 10th May 1899

BRABBS - JOHN SINGLETON - died 29th December 1885

MORRIT - THOMAS SINGLETON - died 6th October 1900

My own G.G. grandfather was JOHN SINGLETON of Howdendyke. His known children were CAROLINE A. SINGLETON who married a WILLIAM WALKER in 1864, JOHN ARTHUR SINGLETON born C1837 died Bridlington Quay 25th September 1877 and my own G. grandmother.

I would be pleased to hear from anyone researching the above families.

Regards

Derek - In Cape Town
