Michelle,
I think someone has a web page on the Internet for Andersonville. I
remember reading it many months ago. But, I lost the URL. :-( I'm not sure
if they have documented the prisoners, though. My cousin has done a lot of
research on our Andersonville ancestor. He said that he has read many
prisoners did not survive long in the camp. He also said that our ancestor
and another prisoner from Ohio were mixed up and there is a discrepancy
about his grave site in Andersonville. Another cousin claims that the
discrepancy has been worked out. But, with that many dieing everyday, I am
sure in those times, no one really made an effort to give the men a decent
burial. They needed to bury them quickly before disease spread.
One book that is a good source for the activities of the Union WV 10th is
the book that was mentioned previously: Major General Thomas Maley Harris
by H. E, Matheny. The book store in Keyser still had copies of it in
December of last year. I don't know if they are sold our or not. Also, my
cousin on the west coast was able to purchase it through
http://www.amazon.com
I suppose the WV 10th was stationed at "New Creek" (Keyser) at one time or
another.
Thanks for all the links to the Civil War.
Lonny
