Just a note of Interest.
I have been following with interest of the discussion about the Marion
County Poor Farm. It has always been the story of my family having
something to do with the Poor Farm but I didn't really know the exact
connection until I saw the 1910 Census with William Davis and the 1920
Census with Marcellus Sturm. These two are both relatives through
my great grandmother. William is my grand father's (John Nelson Stiles)
half brother and Marcellus was my grand father's cousin.
I did some research but I am not related to Lorenza Vincent as far as
I can tell.
My great grand mother was Elvira Thomas Davis Stiles Morrow so
you can see she had a lot of relatives in Marion/Harrison County.
The Thomas family has always been involved with Marion County in
some way. Ashby L. Thomas was Superintendent of Education 1931-1935
and was in the House of Delegates from Marion County 1936.
The names spelled in the census as Shutz should have been Shultz or
Schultz depending how anyone wants to spell it.

There are 27 listed as "INMATE" with ages ranging from 1/12 to 82
1910 Marion County WV Census
Grant District, ED: 64, Sheet 1A
Lines 13 to 36, Dwelling 4, Family 4
Lorenza R. VINCENT (52, and Manager Co. Farm
Rhuemma VINCENT (46, wife) Matron of Co. Famr
They have 4 children ages 5 to 25.
There are 18 listed as INMATES with ages ranging from 2 to 78
1920 Marion County WV Census
Winfield District, ED: 44, Sheet 12B
Marion County Farm, Lines 53 to 66
Marcellus STURM (age 59, is Superintendant) and wife Mary (age 58)
There are 11 residents listed as INMATES with ages from 21 to 85.
There is 1 resident that's a hired Farm-Hand.
1930 Marion County WV Census
Winfield District, ED: 25-38, Sheets 8A and 8B
Marion County Almshouse
Lines 18-50 and 51-54
James B. WEST (age 58) and wife Jennie G (age 56)
are the Almshouse Superintendent and Matron
two children are living with them (John A 16 and S. Elisabeth 11)
There are 33 residents listed as INMATES with ages ranging from 21 to 84.
