Hi Tamara,

Regretfully, we are still uncertain who the parents were of Thomas Wright who married Betsy Groom.

Mary Reed of San Diego, CA, who was at in 2005 was researching this line, but had also hit a brick wall on this Thomas.

Hopefully, she will see this posting and perhaps has further information on this family.

At the time we thought he might be from Louisa County, VA, which would suggest a connection to 1773 (year of death) Richard Wright of Louisa County, VA, (place of death). However, the will of 1773 Richard Wright did not list a son Thomas.

There was one Thomas Wright listed in the 1787 Louisa County, VA, Personal Property Tax List.

There was also a will of Thomas Wright dated Nov 17, 1791, and probated on May 14, 1792, at Louisa County, VA, W.B. 3/474, but he did not name a son Thomas.

On Jan 14, 1794, at Louisa County, VA, D.B. G/418 a Thomas Wright executed a mortgage as to certain personal property.

On May 16, 1799, at Louisa County, VA, D.B. I/629 a Thomas Wright executed a mortgage as to certain personal property.

There was a Thomas Wright & son listed in the 1800 Louisa County Personal Property Tax List.

On June 9, 1812, at Louisa County, VA, D.B. M/99 John and Sarah Todd conveyed land to Thomas Wright, but I do not have a copy of that deed.

On June 9, 1812, at Louisa County, VA, D.B. M/104 Thomas and Elizabeth Wright executed a mortgage, probably for the purchase of the land in Deed M/99, but I do not have a copy of that deed.

On Dec 13, 1812, at Louisa County, VA, D.B. M/179 Thomas Wright and his wife Elizabeth of Louisa County sold 38 acres of land. I suspect this was for Thomas Wright and Betsy (Groom) Wright.

There was also a will of Thomas Wright dated Aug 1,1840, and probated on Nov 9, 1840, at Louisa County, W.B. 10/347, but he named his wife as Sarah, not Elizabeth.

So a lot of loose ends, but no clear identification of this Thomas Wright who married Betsy Groom.
