Subject: [Swansea] VIRUS RISK =Delete any suspect message from me sent today
Date: Sun, 2 Dec 2001 00:47:06 -0000
I am sending this to anyone who has got on to my address book, for whatever reason. As it seems to add automatically to the address book anyone who has sent me an email and had a reply, you may not remember any contact with me. Apologies both if you got an infected email and if you didn't and I am worrying you unduly.
This week I have received several copies of the BADTRANS virus. I thought I had caught all of them and got rid of them, but it looks as though some emails at least have been sent without my knowledge, with timings 20.06 and 21.27 approx 01/12/2001, UK time.
If you got an earlier email from me today, it is probably best to delete it, while your computer is disconnected from the telephone system, so that it can't send further virus copies without your knowledge. I have not sent any emails today which have attachments.
I strongly suggest you get your antivirus software updated, and don't open any emails with attachments you are not expecting.
