There are three Shaw households listed in the 1855 Richland County State
Census.
Joseph Shaw of Forrest Township living alone.
Joel Shaw of Richwood Township (Excelsior) with 3 males and 3 females in his
household.
John Shaw Willow Township with 4 males and 4 females in his household.
All three are mentioned on page 1079 of the 1884 History of Richland County.
John is also mentioned on page1281.
None of these men are listed in the 1850 Federal Census for Richland County,
nor does the 1884 History mention them as being in the Civil War.

Hi Terry-
Thanks for replying but I don't think your Shaws are the ones I'm
researching. So far I haven't run across Amanda Shaw in my families. Joel
Eli Shaw was born (I believe) in New Jersey. I think his father might have
been Moses Shaw (just found that possible link via a message board.) Joel
somehow got to Wisconsin then Kansas and I believe back to Wisconsin.
Those Shaws seemed to have traveled a lot, have several children and name
them all the same. :-) Makes tracking them down challenging. But so far,
I haven't found an Amanda in the line I'm trying to trace.
Thanks anyway! And thanks for sharing your site for your ancestors. It
really looks great. You've put a lot of work into it.
Take care,
Mary King

My wife is related to a couple of Shaws and I am from Richland County but
I'm not sure just where you might fit in (mental block possibly). I have my
ancestors listed at:

perhaps after looking at this we might be able to make a connection.....

Shaw (1816-1892). I've just begun researching our Shaw connections. I've
found that Joel and Mary White Shaw are buried at West Fork Cemetery and
they lived in Richwood Township, near Excelsior.
