I am looking for information on Joseph Laundree (Loundree, Londre, Landra are all ways I've seen it spelled) who lived in Polk Co, WI.
He was born in Apr 1820/1822 in "Upper Canada" I believe he immigrated to Wisconsin in 1855. I have found him on the 1860 census in St. Croix Falls, Polk, WI with wife Sophia (Native American) and daughter Elizabeth. He is on the 1870 Balsam Lake Town, polk, WI
census with wife Sophia age 30, dau Elizabeth (9), dau Josophine (3), son Joseph (3/12). In 1880 he was In Apple River, Polk, WI. Sophia died 4 Apr 1874 in Balsam Lake.
Joseph Sr re-married to Julia Peaslee in Minnesota in 1882.
Elizabeth went on to marry Alfred Foster and have at least 2 kids - Lillian M and Amy Elizabeth.
Josophine married George W Stewart and had at least 1 child, Lillian May.
I am looking for any info on Joseph -anything to try and locate when and where he was born. I am also looking for any info on Sophia. She was born around 1839 in
Wisconsin, and she was Ojibwa. She is supposedly buried in Balsam Lake - somewhere. I have heard that an obit was run, but have not seen it.
Does anyone know anything about this family? I have been at this brickwall for over a year now.
Thanx in advance,
Tara Loundree
