I am a decendant of the Gross line of Wisconsin and Zell, Souith Dakota. I have photos of Johann Joseph Gross and Anna Maria Verken who are my great grandparents. I am interested especially in information about the Verken line. I understand Anna Maria came to this country to care for Johann Joseph Gross's first wife, Gertrude Schiffert who was ill with TB and subsequently died. Family lore has it that she came with one or more brothers, and that they were from Cologne, Germany.
