Hi Wayne.
Nice to hear from you. I have come across a few sites on the net where people
have traced their line back to the Trentham Whitehursts. It would be helpful
to know the source of the Whitehurst emmigration to Virginia. Although the
Whitehusts populate the early Trentham parish registers, they seem to have
held land at this time much further to the north of Staffordshire.
I am considering an intensive study of the Whitehurst name in England
concentrating on the period pre 1750 and am on a sort of fact finding mission
at this stage to see what has been done before.
Some Surname texts suggest that all Whitehursts early derive their name from
the settlement of the same name in the parish of Dilhorne, Staffs. The fact
that my wife is a Whitehurst native to the area and we currently live only 5
miles from the Whitehurst settlement has made me very interested in the name.
A lot of research appears to have been done in the past but the sources are
usually listed as "the late whoever".
Regards Earl.
