Guys and Gals,
I am still trying to tie my gr-gr grandfather, Josiah M.(Marion?) Wesson, born Feb, 1824, SC, to the clan. Josiah married Nancy Jane Adair about 1848 in Laurens, SC.Their firstchild, John Reed Wesson was born September 10, 1849 in Laurens, S.C. Next was Nancy Ann, born January 18, 1851, Mary Jane, born July 13, 1852, Robert Lawrence, born April 1854 in Jacksons Gap, Tallapoosa County, Alabama, Francis Marion, born 1856, Jacksons Gap, Alabama, Alberta B., born August 4, 1862, Jacksons Gap and Josiah/Joseph Green, born May 1865, Jacksons Gap. Other stories are that Josiah and one of his brothers moved to Tallapoosa County, Alabama in late 1853, early 1854 and that Josiah stayed on in Alabama and the other brother did not stay but moved on to Mississippi. Josiah was the only Wesson listed in the 1855 State Census of Alabama for Tallapoosa County. He is listed on page 254 of the 1850 Census of Laurens County along with three other Wessons: Green 35 or 36, another that I can't re!
member his name, 35 or 36, and William, about 45. I know that Green married an Adair. Someone researching this same line thinks that Josiah was the son of Luke. Josiah's grandchildren carried names like Benjamin Luke, Robert Luke, Josiah Green, Tolbert, Cameron, Marion Allen and such. Would like some help from someone who can find a Josiah, born around 1824 in their records.
I am home this weekend before heading off for my second tour "over there" in support of "Operation Enduring Freedom".
Keep up the "digging".
