I am seeking information on the father of:

Philip Eberly Winehold Showalter, b.10-30-1828 in Cocalico, PA,
d.2-15-1892 in Summit Co., OH. He is my 5th Great Grandfather.

His mother was:
Maria Bear Eberly b.6-19-1807 in PA, d.2-20-1883 in Lancaster, PA.

She later married:
Samuel Showalter b.1807 in PA, d. before 6-14-1834 in Lancaster, PA,
on 7-26-1830 at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Reading, Berks, PA.

In his will* Samuel Showalter states "whereas my wife Maria, has a son,
which was born before our marriage, namely, Philip Winehold, for whose
maintenance no provisions have been made in the foregoing will, now it
is my will and I do order that my said wife's son, Philip Winehold,
shall be maintained and educated by my said wife, out of my estate in
the same manner as my own children, to wit, Lydia & Sarah, and that
after the marriage or death of my said wife, the said Philip Winehold,
with my own children, shall inherit my estate, share and share alike,
he the said Philip Winehold to be wed in every respect as my own
children. Witness my hand and seal the 18th day of May 1834."

Other than this mention of Philip's original surname, we have no
information on the man who fathered him.
