My response:

A James E. WEBB was in Murfreesboro, Rutherford, TN on 1850, 1860, and 1870
censuses. My records show he was born 1794 in Mecklenberg Co, VA and died
1873 Rutherford Co, TN. He married Martha
FLOYD in 1816. James was the son of Thomas (1765 Northumberland Co, VA -
1814 Mecklenburg Co, VA) and his wife Judith Sutton BASYE. Besides James
they had at least two other sons, Edmund Basye WEBB (c1787-1854) and Isaac
WEBB (1790-?). The census records do not list a son named Thomas F. WEBB
living with James E. and Martha WEBB. He would have been 19 in 1850 and
there was a single Thomas WEBB., age 19, in Overton Co, TN in 1850.

I have not found a connection with this family, however my Daniel Gary Webb
was in Rutherford Co, TN in 1810, then Sumner Co, then Henderson Co. MyWEBB
line is W8112, Kit #20353. We have been included in the "Giles Webb" group.
While test results show we have a common ancestor some generations back, I
belive we are only a collateral line of the Giles WEBBs in VA. The name
Giles has never been used in my line from the early 1700s to present. The
name Edmund/Edmond has been used often in every generation from John WEBB
who died 1794 in Halifax Co, VA. My grandfather was Dr. Joseph Edmond WEBB.
My WEBBs were Baptist ministers, teachers, and physicians from the 1700s to
present.

If anyone has a John WEBB, b c 1777 VA, they cannot place, please let me
know. This John was the son of Edmund WEBB (1749VA-1821 Halifax Co, VA), and
grandson of John WEBB ( d 1794 Halifax Co, VA. He was living next dwelling
to Edmund WEBB in the 1810 Campbell Co.. VA. He was a Baptist minister.
There are so many John WEBBs in VA that he is the only one of the elder
John's line I have been unable to prove.

I have further information on the above James E. WEBB and his ancestors if
you are interested.
