Hi Phil,

My gr-grandfather's sister Julia Ann Armstrong lived with the family of
E.N. Sargent as a servant for several years (about 1870-1879?) per state
and territorial census records. Julia was 1/2 Indian as Benjamin Charles
(B.C) Armstrong, my gr-gr-grandfather, married a daughter of Chief
Satsop. I am wondering if any of the family has recollections of her.
You may ask "why would they?" Because I believe there was an Indiana
(and perhaps earlier) connection between the Sargent and Armstrong
families. In my gr-gr-gr grandfather's will filed in Indiana is
referenced a Tippecanoe County court case in which Asher Sargent (the
father) was involved. Whether family or friend, Scotch-Irish anyway! I
haven't seen the Longmire name yet though.

Maybe you can think of an angle that will help. Thanks for the email.

Hi Junel,
I only know of these Sargents. Fred married my Elsie Rutledge. Elsie's
father
was a brother to my gr-grandfather. If I remember right, the Sargents
came
out with the Longmires. Fred's brother and father were Asher. Which one
were
you refering to?

As to the Saturday event, I don't know any more except what I saw in the

paper, and that's what I posted. I wish I knew more, but I'm planning to
be
there anyway.

<< Hi, Thanks very much for this information. I called the lady who is
coordinating this affair. She told me about a 'certificate' project that
is underway to identify settlers in Thurston Co by 1852. Do you know
anything about it? My gr-gr-grandfather signed the petition to make
Olympia the county seat and was a member of the masons at Olympia lodge
tho his land and mill was on Cedar Creek. I am really interested in
finding one of the descendants of one of the settlers family, the
Sargent family Asher and Elisha.
Suggestions? Thanks, Junel Davidsen >>
