Hello From Australia,
I also have a ROE connection -
Ann ROE (b? - buried 10.4.1799 from Holy Trinity, Coventry) married William
FOSTER a butcher ( b? - buried 6.7.1812 from Holy Trinity)
on 28th July, 1778 at Holy Trinity, Coventry. She had an illegitimate child
John Jordan ROE christened 20.11.1769 at Corley. This child was apprenticed
to his step father as a butcher on 20.11.1784 under the term "father at
law". I have no further information on John Jordan ROE.
Ann and William had a daughter - Ealcie Price FOSTER ch 22nd June 1779, Holy
Trinity, Coventry. A burial entry in the Holy Trinity records states 'a
daughter of William & Ann Foster' buried 17th July 1783. No other
information given.
They had a son William FOSTER ch 19.6.1781 at Holy Trinity also a butcher
who died after 1851. William married Sarah CARTER from the parish of St.
John the Baptist on 11.4.1808 also performed at Holy Trinity. They had
Charles, Sarah, Seth and William.
Ann and William also had a son Charles FOSTER (c 1783 - after 1851) who
married Elizabeth Abbets ALLSOP (ch 30.5.1792 Bedworth - 22.2.1859 Corely,
Meridan, buried 27.2.1859 St. Thomas, Keresley) on 20.4.1813 also at Holy
Trinity Charles & Elizabeth had Sarah, Thomas, Charles, John, Elizabeth
Francis, William Henry (my line to Australia) George, Mary Ann and Elijah
James FOSTER.
All these sons were apprenticed as butchers , and some remained in the trade
others branching out as Cattle Dealers, Victuallers, Weavers. Charles was a
School Master and Commercial Teacher.
Hope this information connects with someone.
Regards,
Mary of Melbourne
