Andrew WARDLAW is mentioned in the estate papers of John CALDWELL who died intestate in Abbeville, SC
in 1818. Andrew's connection to the Caldwell family is a mystery. The Caldwell estate received money
from the estate of Andrew WARDLAW for reasons not given in the documents.
The 1810 SC census has an Andrew WARDLAW in Fairfield, but he is not there in any prior or subsequent
censuses.
I have searched published genealogies of the WARDLAW'S, and none has an Andrew in the Southeast in the
early 1800's. My best guess is that he is related to John WARDLAW, Sr., who married first Virginia
Margaret MOORE and second Lydia LOGAN before dying about 1791.
Right now Andrew WARDLAW is defying the "No man is an island" rule and is a little island unto himself
in Fairfield SC in 1810.
