What's new as of 14 Apr 2003:
Wow, with the advent of 1837online.com, we are rapidly enhancing our
collection of English births, marriages, and deaths from the GRO index.
Thanks to data contributions from Claire Wandless, Angela Hefford, Michael
Wanless, and myself, we now have MANY more entries than we had before,
which should in turn enable more people to connect their lines. Also thanks
to Elaine Lipe for a generous financial contribution toward the index
extraction effort. If anybody else would like to help with this effort
financially or by extracting data or by sending me the page images for
extraction, please contact me. Every quarter helps.
I am pleased to announce that we have linked the line of Michael Wanless
(about 20 people and growing), formerly in tree 100, into tree 43, giving
Enid Betts a new cousin. Michael's line is concentrated in the South
Shields area, but originated in Newcastle. Also, we have located and
ordered the marriage of Joseph Wanless & Dorothy Winship of the Bishop
Auckland area, so expect to make a breakthrough on that line soon.
Other developments:
--New Manitoba births/marriages/deaths file, thanks to Michael Kinsey.
--Updated all the files of English marriages/births/deaths from parish
records by trawling through all the GenUKI transcriptions.
--New Donations page: Wanless Web now accepts credit cards, to make it
easier for people to pay the cost of birth/mrg/death certificates,
microfilm rental for lookups, or to contribute financially to the general
research effort.
--Revised all PRO files to match FreeBMD format for ease of data
transfer. Added TONS of new entries in PRO Births, Mrgs, & Burials files &
updated coverage pages. Added link to1837online.com & revised PRO index intro.
--Added Stockton entries to 1841 DUR census, thanks to Tony Palmer.
--New 1891 Scotland census & updated 1901 Scotland census, thanks to
Margaret Wanless.
--This mailing list now has 101 subscribers!
Enjoy!
