Lorine Schultz, a blessed friend, has found references to Dan
Vrooman. I know he was in Canton in the 1850s when he was acting US
Consul and a missionary. My guess would be that he was probably born
in the 1820s or thereabouts. He was in SF in the 1860s and may have
gone back to China as an independent missionary. He is listed in the
American Presbyterian Church's minister's list but I didn't get any
specific details re birth, place of birth, date of ordination, etc. It
is possible the SF 'ordination' may be a misnomer for induction as a
minister under the jurisdiction of the SF Presbytery (district board)
of the American Presbyterian Church. The records I have of the SF
Pres Ch Mission do mention him but not much more. Thanks Lorine.
