Our Voughts or Voghts were in the Revolution. Joseph Christian was and most of his sons. The one I am descended from Achatius was as well. He was also in the War of 1812. Joseph did have a son named John Christian Vought. He was born in 1775 and died in 1849. He was the youngest son. But I do believe that Christian is a family name, he wouldn't have named most of his children that if it wasn't. His wife's last name is Rhineheart. Which I think her family came from the Rhine. We know nothing of his early life, except that people believe he may have come across from Netherlands in 1745. I do not know if I believe this because he would have been 5 years old. And we have no record his parents. I do think it is too big of a coincidence that you have a John Christian no matter when he came over. Especially when it is a family name.
