Rhonda....
I could be wrong, however I think that Earthlinks "Spamanater" works even if
you don't use their software..... Several years ago I switched from a small
town ISP to Earthlink and the Earthlink Rep gave me an 800 number to
call.... She told me to call that number after an hour or so..... I called
that evening and Earthlink's techinal support walked me thru a step by step
proceedure as to what settings to change [it took 3 phone calls to get
everything set up just like I had had it with my old ISP]...... Approx a
week later Earthlink's CD arrived in the mail..... I didnot install it
since everything was working just like I wanted...... And since I was
running on borrowed time with my old Windows 95 computer.... why fix
something that wasn't broken......
The bottom line..... I usually only received about 1 spam a month.. if that
often... I think that the spam is controled back at Earthlinks Central
Office..... and that the CD that they want you to buy [upgrade from time to
time] is a gimick and that by using their CD.... It is controling you rather
then you controlling it.......
After I got my new computer, almost 2 years ago, Earthlink made me install
their CD..... That was on a Friday evening..... By Monday, noon, I was back
in my computer repairman/salesman making arrangements for him to take
Earthlinks program off my computer on Thursday.... Using their program was
6 days of hell!!!

| I know it is there. I tried the lite version of earthlink's program.
Just
| so I could use the spamanater. But it would not work. You see I do not
use
| all the Earthlink junk. I made my own dial up and just use their server.
