Captain Bill was my great Grand father and I am familiar with the articles that were mentioned. He did fairly extensive research on the Vinal lineage. As a matter of fact I pulled out some of his original writings just last night to catalog some of them. He was an energetic man in his old age and wrote until the day he died. I have noticed the info on this message board to be good. My Dad, Grand-dad and Great Grandad all lived in Scituate and Norwell (formerly South Scituate). It was also our belief that Ann was the original ancestor in the states with her decendants both staying in Mass and going to Maine (Vinalhaven Island).
I am looking for info about Ann prior to her emigration to Scituate. Father in law's name etc. date and place of birth etc. I suspect it was in Sussex. Any help would be appreciated. Phil Vinal (now in Texas)

On the spelling of the name- I have run across Brits with the Vinall surname and they have not dropped the second "L" just yet. Apparently there are still a fair number of Vinal decendants in England. Stephen must have had a couple of brothers....
