Dianne; I didn't relies you as being from NZ. My Vickers came here from
Ulster North Ireland. Finding grandcestors from "over the Water" Is extremey
difficult here. I have almost all my lines back to the colonies and only one
back to Europe, then it goes back to King Alpin Of Scotland in yr 770 My
family is about 75 % Scots or Scots-Irish. The other 25 % is almost all
German (my mother) The Taylor name goes back to ancient Rome, Caesar took
them to gaul with his conquest the name was Taliaferro, it became Tailefeur,
Telefer, Teller and various variations. When William the Conqueror conquered
England his first Lt was a Baron Taillefeur who was killed at battle of
Hastings His brother became baron and is responsible for Britons with Royal
and Noble lineage. That's much easier to trace as the church kept very
detailed records on Nobility and Royalty. 4
