Automatedgenealogy.com has the 1901 and 1911 Canadian censuses indexed
on line and is some cases linked between censuses. I've had pretty good
luck lateley with finding "vital records" for Manitoba and Quebec. Then
that Collectionscanada.ca was cool.
Have you also explored what sites may be available through
cyndislist.com? She's got US and Canada sites.
I gave up on my Canadian lines about 10 years ago but have started them
again as it looks like there are more records available than there were.
Salt Lake also has a project afoot to digitize and index the films
stored in the granite vault and to make those databases available. Keep
an eye on familysearch.com for a major rebuild and lots more cool stuff.
If you get into indexing you may want to be a volunteer unless you are
already involved locally with other records. Good luck and keep in
touch. We've talked before. Maybe someday we'll connect if we both do
enough research.

What frustrates we who are researching on the other side of the "pond"
ie
United Kingdom is trying to connect some of the US families through to
our
families when your research ends with - "arrived in America" and it
seems as
if many are unable to connect with the English part of the family
I have several "they went to America" - which of course often meant
Canada
through anecdotal family stories. Several of our Derbyshire,
Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire VICKERS "went to America -
so far I have only been able to trace a Hannah Vickers who married a
Sidney
MITCHELL and went (c 1912) to Swift Current to connect with other
VICKERS
in Moose Jaw Saskatoon Regina etc Saskatchewan . MITCHELL left Hannah
and
the children and apparently went to Deadwood as a sherriff
One assumes that the VICKERS that were in Saskatchewan (and I think
Ontario)were connected through Hannahs father James VICKERS of Brinsley
Derbyshire/Notts border (f WilliamVICKERSof Heage (m Elizabeth
Papplewick) )
Anyone who can shed any light or break through brick walls would be
appreciated
