John Rutherford Esquire Lieutenant Governor Acting as Governor of the
Commonwealth of Virginia TO ALL TO WHOM THESE PRESENTS SHALL come GREETING:
KNOW YE That in conformity with a Survey made on the eighth day of May 1841 by
virtue of Land Office Treasury warrant No. 11183 there is granted by the said
Commonwealth unto Thos C Via a certain Tract or Parcel of Land, containing
fifteen and three fourths acres situate in Albemarle County on the South end
of the Pasture fence mountain and waters of Moorman's river - Beginning at a
Stone in his old Field cor. to himself and Geo. Craig, thence with his own
line, W 40 E 96 poles to a Stone in Wm. Maupins line near a branch Thence down
the same 47 E 24 poles to a poplar W 77 E 16 poles to pointers near a _ale
in Harris's Spring branch thence down the same as it meanders 28 poles to 2
Elms, a gum & Hazel nut cor. to George __ thence with the line of the same S
69 W 94 poles to the Beginning with its appurtenances.
TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the Tract or Parcel of Land, with its appurtenances, to
the said Thos C Via and his heirs forever.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the said John Rutherford Esq. Lieut. Governor of the
Commonwealth of Virginia, hath hereunto set his Hand, and caused the Lesser
Seal of the said Commonwealth to be affixed, at Richmond, on the thirteenth
day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight Hundred and forty-two
and of the Commonwealth the sixty sixth. J.
