I initially posted the following on the Fauquier Co list and got some fine suggestions from a couple of folks regarding the Balch Library and the Library of Virgina. Tim suggested I post it on VAROOTS as well as this list has broader coverage. Perhaps someone else will have additional suggestions for me.

I have a DAR application from 1907 that references an obituary for my 4g
gf John Mitchell stating it was in a paper published near Middleburg VA
in Mar 1852. Does anyone have any ideas on how I might go about finding
such an obituary? Or even what paper it might have been in?
