[Re letter in ML 4:44 re Cornell University's War of the
Rebellion Web site] The Cornell University Web site which has
put all the volumes of the WAR OF THE REBELLION images on line
also has the master index volume. It is the last volume (#130).
Without being told it is there, you wouldn't know. This index
only points you to a volume, but not the actual page, for a
given reference. This index volume is online at Cornell, URL
(include the trailing "?,,"):

Cornell has also added a link to information about the index
from this home page. This sub-link has links to abstracts about
each volume. Additionally, they have enhanced their display
recently to include, within each volume, a drop down list to get
you to key sections of the volume you are viewing (such as cover
page, contents, index, etc.).

Better yet, someone at the following web site has put together a
page with links which explains what is covered in each volume,
with a link to the index page in each volume. They also have
links to each letter of the alphabet in the master index
