Hello listers,

I understand this is a new list and I don't see any postings as yet, so
I guess I will start things off. I am descended from Abraham Pietersen
Van Deursen of Haarlem, Netherlands (ca. 1599 - ca. 1667) and wife
Tryntje Melchiors of Groningen. They emigrated sometime before 1636 to
New Amsterdam. My line is as follows:

Abraham Pietersen Van Deursen + Tryntje Melchiors
Matheus/Teuwis Abrahamsen Van Deusen + Helena Robberts
Marietje Matheus Van Deusen + Abraham Janse Van Alstyne

NOTE: Matheus Abrahamsen is the common ancestor of US presidents Martin
Van Buren and Franklin Delano Roosevelt.

I have access to the book "Van Deursen Family" by Albert Harrison Van
Deusen (pub. 1912) which details the ancestors and descendants of
Abraham the immigrant, as well as other more recent journal articles
which correct some of the errors in that book. I would be glad to look
up info in those resources for anyone. I would also be interested in
connecting with any other Van Deusen cousins out there.
