Confederate General Philip St.George Cocke returned from
his military duties to his home in Fluvanna County after
the Battle of First Manassas.

General Cocke had some serious health concerns which was
overwhelming him. He came home in shattered health. Gen-
eral Cocke took his own life on the 26th of December, in
1861.

At first General Cocke was buried on his own estate, but
he was later interred in the Hollywood Cemetery which is
in Richmond, Virginia.

I've read where General Cocke was born in Fluvanna County
in April of 1809. Does anyone know more about his birth
place and if it is still in existance.

General Cocke died at his estate called Belmead. I think
it was in Powhatan County. IF anyone has ever visited it
I would appreciate some update on what it looks like to-
day.

ANY INFORMATION WILL BE APPRECIATED! Thanks! Glenn
