Donald McMinn
(October 2, 1939 - February 2, 2009)
Donald E. McMinn, 69, of Hendersonville,NC passed away Monday morning
February 2, 2009 at his residence.
Mr. McMinn was a lifelong resident of Henderson County. He was a son of the
late William Glenn and Minnie Pittman McMinn and was also preceded in death
by two brothers, Guy McMinn and Bill McMinn.
Mr. McMinn was employed by Kimberly Clark for twenty-three years before his
retirement in 1995. He was a member of Locust Grove Baptist Church and
proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
Survivors include his loving wife of 42 years, Hilda Jayne, a son Damon
McMinn and wife Karen, of Hendersonville, a daughter, Melissa Justus and
husband Jason, of Saluda, four grandchildren, two sisters, Virginia Sargent
and husband Frank of Hendersonville and Lola Corn and husband David of
Hendersonville, special niece and caregiver Ann Mayfield, and several nieces
and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 4, 2009
at Locust Grove Baptist Church with the Reverend James Maybin, Reverend Bill
Landreth, and Reverend Tim Worthington officiating. The family will receive
family and friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will
follow in the church cemetery with military rites, conducted by Hubert M.
Smith American Legion Post #77, Hedrick Rhodes VFW Post # 5206, and Chapter
#14 of the DAV.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be to the Four Seasons
Hospice and Palliative Care, 571 S. Allen Rd., Flat Rock, N.C. 28731.
