Iva Mildred Eastman Barnett

(07/16/2003) Iva Mildred Eastman Barnett, age 89, of Austin passed away on
Monday, July 14, 2003. Mrs. Barnett was born in Junction, Texas, and after
moving to Austin, graduated from The Texas School for the Deaf in 1933. She
married Hoyett Barnett in 1934. He preceded her in death. Wherever Mildred
lived she was active in the Southern Baptist Conference for the Deaf. Her
career consisted of working for the TEA, the banking industry, and finally
retiring from the IRS at the age of 80. She was named ``Deaf Woman of the
Year'' for the Southwest District of the United States in 1979. She is
survived by three sons, Charles, Bobby and Larry Barnett; three
grandchildren; one great-grandchild and a sister, Angeline Eastman West.
Visitation hours will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 16th at
the funeral home. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday,
July 17, 2003, at Capital Memorial Park Cemetery in Pflugerville. Memorials
may be made to TSD Foundation, 1102 So. Congress, Austin, TX 78704.
