Hello Jim,
Any surviving records relating to Linton workhouse will be at the CKS.. I
have enquired about admission and discharge for earlier years and there was
very little, - I have an idea that they said the earliest began in the
1890s. Here is the catalogue link for you to search yourself
http://www.kentarchives.org/DServeCKS/dserve.exe?&dsqIni=Dserve.ini&dsqApp=ArchivePub&dsqDb=Catalog&dsqCmd=overview.tcl&dsqSearch=(((text)='maidstone')AND((text)='union'
))
Whatever the result it might be worth sending them an email enquiryI
I also have the idea that by the 1890s the old Settlement considerations
were no longer in force - otherwise it could be worth checking the parish
chest of the parish she came from to see if there were any charges made by
Maidstone Union overseers for her care. The chance of striking lucky must be
remote, but it may be worth a try.
Good luck, Jim Halsey
