Ancestor DANIEL LILLEY appears in 1851 census at Holbeach Union House, parish of Fleet, Spalding Gate listed as 12 yrs., pauper/scholar, born Holbeach.
Have located him in 1841 at Shephard's Stow with parents (?) William, 40, Ag.lab & Sarah, 40, plus John age 6yrs (and Daniel age 2yrs).
Back to 1851 and at 14 Shepeau Stow there is William (age ? 37 yrs), widower together with John age 10 yrs & Charlotte age 9 yrs.
Is it likely that when William was widowed, he put Daniel in the Poorhouse? Possibly the older John was then married; but why wasn't Daniel still living with his father?
There seem to be plenty of LILLEYs in the area. Can anyone kindly look up a 1891 census entry at RG12/2564 folio 11 (Moulton) ?
Where might I find some detail about Daniel's admission to Holbeach Union ?
