Thanks to all who replied both on and off list - especially for being so
quick
The family seems to have taken a 'U turn' .
A chance finding of matching a married name to a maiden name and a chance
finding of a headstone and then whoooosh !!!!!
The Siddles and connected lines have been in Wakey for over 400 years with
the usual workers doing their bit for the town. By taking a detour into
another line we go to Doncaster, Austerfield, Haxey, Epworth cross the river
and end up in Carlton juxta Snaith (other family from there too, differant
line) then onto Beal, a quick jump into Stanley and then the landed gentry
appear - some well known in Wakefield, the artists, clerks in holy orders
and more.
It is certainly funny how one family leaves the area, joins another family
and then comes back to where you started - thank goodness for the census
online.
One very strange thing is,probably, no definitely, my working family would
not have been allowed across the threshold of the Hall, today I can go in,
look around and take in their surroundings.
regards to all
Carol
