Hi Fiona:
My 3xggm was Mary MARTON. All I know about her was that she married
James BLAKEY at Wakefield, All Saints in 1800. This is from Boyd's
Marriage Index and I have not checked the original parish register.
MARTON could be a mis-spelling or mis-transcription of MORTON. Have you
gone back far enough to know if there may be a connection to your line?

Just another message to see if anyone else has found anything about the
MORTON family from Wakefield. I have quite a bit of info on MORTONS
from Wakefield ones my family line and some others are what I thought
was mine but turned out not to be.
