Hi Listers
I noticed this obituary in a recent posting from Gail Jackson:
"The death was announced, on the l6th of April, of Mr. Thomas MAY, formerly
owner of Woodland Colliery, in the county of Durham, at the age of 93
years."
I think Thomas MAY was the uncle of Sarah MAY who married James NEWTON at
Auckland Reg Office on 20 Nov 1865; Sarah's father is given as
Richard MAY (brother of Thomas?)
James and Sarah NEWTON had a daughter Susannah NEWTON
Susannah had a daughter Caroline NEWTON who became known as Caroline CLARKE
and married John ERRINGTON of Merrington, Bishop Auckland on 17 June 1911.
We have no record of Susannah NEWTON's marriage nor of how Caroline NEWTON
became Caroline CLARKE.
If any one can help to unravel this saga I would be very grateful
Andrew Loughran
