Hi everyone,
Sorry for not making postings to the list lately but Ive been very busy
with one thing and another plus I still have quite a back-log of mail to
catch up on. Ive have however still been collecting mail and postings about
6 times a day and have notice a drop in messages to the list. There can be
many reasons for this but the main one I would suspect is the on-going
problem with viruses. All I can say on this one is dont open any e-mails
with attachments unless you confirm with the sender of its contents and make
sure your virus protection software is up to date. I may not have been
posting lately but I have still been working on quite a few new ideas for
the list and web site. The first one is the re-setting up of the INFORMATION
EXCHANGE, which was sadly lost a few weeks ago due to a hacker who broke
into the host computer and deleted all the databases. I have checked with
the host site in question and they have told me extra security measures have
been taken so we should all be able to add our queries to the databases
without any further problems. Im presently still working on it so Im
hoping to have the full databases up and running within the next day or two
so please feel free to visit our web site at http://uk-northeast.com and
select INFORMATION EXCHANGE from the menu on the left. Categories include: -
Surname Database, Find a Friend or Family Member, Looking for Genealogy
Information, Monumental Inscriptions, Trading Post, Coal Mines & Miners &
One Name Studies, plus 2 new additions: - Trading Exchange & Old Photos.
Full details on all section will be available on the new site.
Best Wishes
Steve (Listowner for UK-NORTHEAST & Joint Listowner for the UK-NORTHWEST
