On the back of this Bob, it seems strange that those who are supposedly
heavily protected are possibly having the most, or quite a lot of trouble.
My story is on my first connection around 9am yesterday (Monday) I received
a fair amount of semi spurious mail, including some about the worm, but
nothing with an attachment. Later in the evening I again connected,
and my mail this time included one with an attachment. The sender was
given as "Margaret" and the subject was Re: Re: (UK census) meltdown. On
high lighting the Margaret to see the text, none appeared, but it went
straight to the attachment, which I refused to open, and deleted it fast. I
never open attachments that I am not expecting.
I had replied to a meltdown message, and BTW, the person asking for help
has not yet come back with a "Thanks" or whatever. Can we ask those of
you who have been apologising for sending infected stuff, or any others,
Shell for example, 1/ purely as a matter of interest and nothing else, did
you open any strange attachments ?...2/ what damage has this worm done to
you. I have no virus protection on my machine, and to the best of
my knowledge, my computer is working fine says he looking round for a bit
of 4 x 2 solid oak.......... do the antiviral software companies send out
the occasional virus so you get nervous and keep upgrading........ food for
thought....... and to hear people say they are upgrading several times a day
seems ridiculous to me......... perhaps I shall live to regret saying
this.... Cheers for now John Kendall..
