Subject: [UFT] "UFT cannot open the database"
Date: Fri, 22 Jun 2007 21:41:01 -0400

I have two fairly large databases on UFT 3.1 and three small ones. I'm
trying to open the small one on York families in GA, which is named GAYORK,
and here's what's happening.

I clicked on File, then Open. All 5 projects were listed, so I clicked on
GAYORK, and here's the message that came up:
UFT cannot open the database used to store Individuals
(C:\ROOTS4PROJECTS\75409913.DBF).

The next message says that GAYORK.PRO cannot be opened because of a bad or
missing project file. Restore from a backup file and try again.

I'm finding backups of all the other projects (several each for the two
large ones) but not for the York. Wouldn't you know! Of course, my backups
except for the very latest ones are on 3 inch floppies, and some of them
are probably no longer good anyway. So I guess my question is: is there
any other way to open the York project?

Another question, please. When I click on FILE the first time, 3 projects
are listed at the bottom. I thought that 4 projects were usually listed
there. When I have 5 projects, and only 4 of them show up, how do I get to
the others? In the first paragraph above, I said that, "All 5 projects were
listed . . . ." Why are only three listed now?

Thanks for any help.

Barbara Dooley
