I sent this msg was to Sandra Stephens, but wanted to send it to the Coleman list, because my gr.grandfather Samuel Gholson lived in Coleman area about 1873.

I thought your Aquilla was an interesting name in the Gholson family. My 3rd great grandparents, who moved from Kentucky to Texas named their 5 kids spanish names.... Angelina, Alvira, Alahmon, Alverado, and Albert ( my ancestor).

Angelina lived in Arkansas & died there, Alvira died young (age 17), Alahmon was bucked from a horse & died in Illinois (about age 18), Alverado was a conterfeiter, was lashed for it Arkansas (court trial), he later dueled with some man.... and died. He shot the man in the back, and was also shot (and he died).

Oh well...Albert, the youngest was my 2nd gr. grandfather. He was shot & killed in Coryell, Tx, by Bill Oakes. Albert owned the land where Ft. Hood is now.

Yes, Jan, that is the same family. I am attaching what I have - I haven't researched this family in quite some time, so some of this may be incorrect. Thanks for the additional notes which I did not have.
