G. B. Bradshaw was raised in Tennessee, but came to Bowie many years ago, and
settled near Myrtle Springs. In 1908 he purchased a small tract of raw
timbered land two miles northeast from Hooks, paying $4.00 per acre cash, and
on this little farm of 100 acres, he has resided during the intervening
years, with the help of his growing children, of whom there were four -- two
sons and two daughters -- Mr. Bradshaw cleared and put in cultivation much of
this land, now about two-thirds being tilled.
