List of Tobacco Growers in 1790 Spanish Natchez District
Turney, Matheu - 1,100 pounds

Mathew Turney rec. Spanish Land Grant in 1795

a Peter Turney killed at Ft Mims Massacure in 1813

I suspect this is from Hy Turney who died 1838 Smith Co TN.

The Van Buren Co Arkansas Turneys are from Henry Turney who died 1843 Dekalb
Co TN....

the two Henrys are very distantly related.

1, Hans Durni and Madlena Stuber
2. Johannes Thurny born 10 July 1670 Switzerland, died 22 Sept 1718 Germany
3. Johan Peter Turney bp 1710/11 Switzerland, arrive America 1741 ship
FRIENDSHIP with first wife Anna Bahr and daughter Maria bp 1735...second
wife Eva is probably mother to the rest of his children......by 1751 they
were in Shenandoah Co Virginia from PA.
4. Henry Turney died 1843 Dekalb Co TN
5. Peter Turney b 1795 TN, died 1842 Van Buren Co Arkansas
and so on.....he is the father of the VBC AR Turneys....one of his brothers
line is Searcy Co AR, another is Boone Co AR. One brother's line stayed in
TN, two brothers and a sister ca 1815-1818 to Alabama.

1. Hans Durni
2. Urs Thurny b ca 1688 Switzerland
3. Johannes Thurny born 18 March 1724/25 Switzerland and wife Barbara
arrived America ship ST ANDREW 1750, lived in Maryland, then to NC
3. Henry Turney also known as Hy Turney, born 1753 Maryland, grew up in NC,
then to TN. First wife Martha Lancaster, second wife Nancy Jones. He died
1838 Smith Co TN....might have had a son Matthew. I think this Matthew went
to Spanish Territory - Natchez by 1790.
