Subject: [TUDGAY] Some info for the List

Hullo Listers,

Michael Spackling from the Somerset Frome Rootsweb List sent me this
information. I asked him if I could pass it on to the TUDGAY List and
he said: "Perfectly ok. I would just caution that it is information
only from indexes which are secondary sources. Any serious
researcher should confirm the data from primary sources such as
Parish Registers or filmed copies."

I had asked him:

""In the Deverils during the late 1600s and early 1700s there were
two Tudgey family's producing children James and Joseph then in Jan
1699 just one record William son William thats all in the baps
Longbridge Deveril but nothing any where after that. Was he our
William's dad and where did he come from?""

and Michael replied:

"The IGI official extraction program has covered marriages for the
Deverills but not baptisms it would appear. These are the Batch
Numbers in case you don't have them:-

Deverill Kingston <javascript:oI('M153231')>M153231 1706-1895
Deverill Longbridge <javascript:oI('M153451')>M153451 1682-1895
<javascript:oI('M153452')>M153452 1607-1682

I don't know if you have the British Vital Records Index but I am
attaching all the TUDGAY [and variants] baptisms and marriages.
These cover only selected parishes. Information on St John's, Frome
is especially hard to come by as the Parish Registers have only
recently been released by the new incumbent for filming.

I've noticed before how the spelling gets inverted but there are no
TUGKEYs in the BVRI."
(end of Michael's reply)

So, I've copied the three Lists he sent me on to three separate
e-mails. Perhaps most of you will have all this information, but it
might be useful to some who maybe haven't.

Kind regards,
Zillah
