A researcher in Newton Abbot, Devon, England has been working on the
following project for nearly two years. Compiling a Roll of Honour of those
listed on the War Memorial in Newton Abbot who lost their lives during
1914 -1918.

It appears that there are some 60 names missing from the Memorial, and
details of 217 of the 232 names on the Memorial has been located.

Within the Roll of Honour there will be details of the men who left Newton
Abbot prior to the war years to emigrate to Australia, New Zealand and
Canada, but who lost their lives during WW1.

What is being sought are photographs or records of any of those, whose names
appear on the Memorial especially the following:

BALLS, E (L Corporal 1st New Zealand Wellington Rifles)
BRIMECOMBE, G (PO. HMS Opossum)
COCKERHAM, F (Gunner, Royal Field Artillery)
COLLETT, H J (Corporal, Royal Marine Light Infantry)
GARRETT, G (Pte Devonshire Reg)
HOOPER, W H (Pte Royal Army Services Corp)
KELLAWAY, K K (Pte Royal Army Medical Corp)
LAMACRAFT, W (Pte Labour Corps)
NORRISH A W (ABS HMS Laurentic)

PARKINS M H (Pte 3rd Gloucester Reg)
RIPLEY W, (Pte 4th Australian Imperial Force)
WHITE W (ABS HMS Vala)
WOOD A W ( Sgt Royal Army Medical Corps)

It appears the reason for errors or omissions is because the family
of the deceased were requested to submit the infrmation in the early 1920s.

If you can provide any information, photos or info regarding any names on
the memorial or those names listed above please contact me and I will
provide the contact name & number.
