Mead... what office are you running for.... I recall that you were an aide
to the governor a few years back. As you might have heard my wife Lora
and I attended the service for Tim the bear kid. We had seen him give a
presentation at Ventura (CA) college and his photography was impressive....
but he was really strange. At that time he was still thought of as a
Treadwell. When the bear ate him we went to the requiem. I wore a name tage
that had TREADWELL on it and I also had my camera. I was stopped at the door
by his partner and former girlfriend and I was told that I could not come in
wearing the tag and that they had their own cameraman. Needless to say I was
pissed but I went along. We sat at a table with the two sisters of Tim's
girlfriend... the one tha was also killed by the bear. They weren't even
allowed to sit with Tim's family. What a bunch of cretins his family was. We
liked the sisters and felt badly about the shabby way they were received. I
later corresponded with a news columnist from Alaska and he filled me in on
the phoniness of Tim and the low esteem the Alaskans held for him.
Good luck on your venture. Glad to see the name is back in Alsaka... in a
good way. Incidentally those gold miners were cousins of mine.... and left
me nary a dime. They later had a coal mine in Northern California,,,, still
nothing. On my immediate side my grandfather, born in in St John, was a
partner in a coal mine with Buffalo Bill Cdy.... once again no iheritance. I
sense a tradition growing here.
Best regards,
William Don Treadwell

I am running for office here in Alaska, and I am asked almost every day
about family connections to a guy eaten by a bear and a guy who built a gold
mine. Charlie gave me the answers, and Tim, thanks for picking up the
database and keeping as all together! Mead

I think the entire Treadwell Clan will miss Charlie. I met him through John
at an art show inJacksonville where I was selling my art. He explained his
Treadwell banner over his booth and suggested I contact Charlie. That was
the beginning of a serious quest about the Treadwells and I learned that
Charlie and I were actually cousins coming from the Canadian branch. He
helped me locate most of my family and we also bonded as photographers.
When his Mother was still alive he asked that I send her a birthday card...
I did and she very graciously sent me a thank you note which I still have.
Charlie left good foot prints on this Earth and his many friends, relatives
and his family will always remember him. You've earned your rest Charlie...
and put in a good word for me if you will.
