Hi Dawn,
Looking at the cemetery book (eastern third of the county) I see lots
of Dements. THere is a Betty Dement but she wasn't born till the
1860's. There are two Dement Cemeteries. Do you already have this
info? Apparently Abner was the sheriff and was the first settler killed by
a slave here. The two oldest graves appear to be Dr. John Dement-1824-1906
and his brother David Dement-1822-1907. If you'd like the rest of the info
let me know. There are about 8-10 other Dement listings.
