A typewritten genealogy I have of the Harper family of Obion Co., TN shows
Elizabeth Adalaide Harper married James Polk (brother of William Polk,
who married Eliz. A.'s sister Susan, my great grandparents). (I was not
aware of the initial C., or any middle name related to this James).
The genealogy shows Elizabeth Adelaide Harper born May 27, 1844, died Nov.
18, 1888, interred Troy, TN cemetery.
Children listed are: 1)Katherine, 2)Alex, 3)James, 4)George
and 5)Ella.
My father told me back in 1983 that the last of these cousins that he had
known of to live in Obion County lived south of Polk Station on the riverbank
where the Turnpike crossed the Obion river. He said that some had moved
to Louisiana, but he didn't know what had become of them.
Should you have information on this branch of the family, I would like
an update.
