AXLEY, HELEN E. - age 94 passed away on Saturday, April 19, 2008. Helen was a member of First Baptist Church of Maryville for 65 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Carrie Burns; three brothers and three sisters; husband, Vastine Axley; son-in-law, William Young. BAIRD, KATHY KELLEY - age 52, of Knoxville, was called home Friday April 18, 2008 by her Lord, whom she had served for many years. She was a faithful member of Anderson Avenue Church of God where she served in the pastorate alongside her husband, Pastor Troy Baird for 8 years. Kathy was preceded in death by her brother, Jack E. Kelly and son-in-law, Joe Johnson both of Knoxville. She is survived by her loving and devoted family: husband of 34 years, Pastor Troy L. Baird; daughters, Maria A. HAMBY, RONNIE EDMUND - September 26, 1939 - April 19, 2008. Ron was born in Knoxville to T.G and Syble Hamby. He attended West View Elementary School, Tyson Junior High and West High where he played football and was on the All City Team. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed mostly in Morocco. Ron loved to tell a good story which came in handy in his various sales jobs. He was retired from Dixie Kitchens. Ron was also a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Preceded in death by his wife, Jackie Wyrick, parents and brothers Charles and Vernice, he leaves his fianc&#65533;e, Carol Irwin and her children; son, Richard; daughters and sons-in-laws, Gina and Bart Whitfield, Alicia and Kevin Wilson, and granddaughters, Meredith and Shelby Whitfield and Elizabeth Wilson. HODGES, AARON MICHAEL - age 28, of Sevierville and formerly of Knoxville, passed away Saturday, April 19, 2008. He grew up on Wellington Drive in the Dean Hill Neighborhood and attended Second Presbyterian Church with his family. He graduated from West High School in 1997, and attended Tennessee Tech University where he was a member of the marching band. He was a long-time employee of Circuit City, having worked in car audio and video installation in all of the Knoxville stores. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Fred and Lilly Hodges of Seymour and Dr. Robert and Ellen Broady of Sevierville. JONES, MADGE MCGLOTHIN - 76, of Oliver Springs, died peacefully at her home on Friday, April 18, 2008. She was born March 7, 1932 in Huntsville, TN. The daughter of Robert Harvey McGlothin and May Sexton McGlothin. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was a dedicated member of Middle Creek Baptist Church where she participated in the WMU, taught the senior women's Sunday School class and served as the Director of Vacation Bible School for 35 years. Even in failing health, she continued to serve the Lord through hundreds of hand written notes sent to all that were in need of love and encouragement. She touched and inspired all who knew her. MCCAMISH, JOSEPH F. - of Oak Ridge died Saturday April 19, 2008 at his home surrounded by his family and friends. He had a colorful and varied career putting to work his considerable art talent. Joe retired from General Electric in 1992, having been under contract to their Cincinnati, Ohio division. Joe began his professional career at North American Aviation, then Avco and Martin-Marietta as a technical illustrator, at the same time practicing free-lance art and calligraphy which he continued to the end of his life. Joe was born in Knoxville May 12, 1926 and returned in 1960 to work at Plasti-line as a graphic designer, then Spinlab as their art director. He founded Panorama, Knoxville's Visitor's Guide. He was a WWII Navy veteran and belong to SAE fraternity while a student at UT. Joe was the 1948 Art Editor of the Volunteer Yearbook. He was a long-time member of Holston Hills Country Club and Moose Lodge 1316 in Oak Ridge, at one time serving as the governor of the lodge.!
He is survived by daughter, Patricia (Patty) Donohoe and husband John; two sons, Joseph (Joe) Looper McCamish and wife Cheryl, and Bruce Allred McCamish; grandchildren, Alyse Catherine McCamish, Patrick Hanbury Donohoe, Thomas McCamish Donohoe and John Allred Donohoe as well as five great-grandchildren. SLOVIS, NORBERT JOEL - age 75, of Knoxville, son of the late Louis and Eva Blumberg Slovis, passed away Friday, April 18, 2008 at Baptist Hospital. He was a member of Heska Amuna Synagogue, where he was past President, past Chairman of the Board of Trustees, and was currently serving on the Hevra Cadisha Burial Committee and the Rabbi and Religious Committee. He was a past member of the United Jewish Appeal - Young Leadership Cabinet. Norbert was a graduate of old Knoxville High School and the University of Tennessee, where he received his undergraduate and law degrees. He was a Senior Partner in the Law Firm of Slovis, Rutherford and Weinstein, Attorneys and former partner in the Law Firm of Lockett, Slovis & Weaver. He was a member of The American Bar Association, Junior Chamber of Commerce, Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. Norbert is survived by his loving family: wife, Linda Gray-Slovis; children, David Slovis, Alaina Slovis; grandchildren, Ayva and Ely; sister, Marilyn Pre!

STAIR, ELPHA LAWSON - age 90 of Mascot slipped peacefully into the arms of Jesus Saturday, April 19, 2008 at Hillcrest North. She was born September 1, 1917 near Big Creek in Sneedville, Tennessee to CB and Sarah Lawson and the last child to join them. Her passion in life was the love of her family, church and the Mine Road neighbors. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed hosting family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Martha Wilkerson; daughter, Angelia Marie McMillan, of Knoxville; son and daughter-in-law, Michael Ross and Marla Wilkerson, of Knoxville; sisters, Mattie Ayers and Nancy Wilkerson, both of Maryville; niece, Donna and her husband Don Close, and their sons and wives, Travis (Tina) and Todd (Becca) Close; great-great nephew, Gavin Close; and other family, in-laws and many friends.
