ADAMS, THOMAS V. - age 63, went home to the Father on Saturday, March
10, 2007 at his home after a 2 year battle with cancer. Tom was proudly
an Eagle Scout and of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by:
his parents, Mildred and Sidney Adams of Camden, TN and sister, Carolyn
Bond of Knoxville. He is survived by: his wife, Kylah Church Adams;
loving children, Jennifer Doubleday of Knoxville and "Dub" Doubleday
and wife, Alison of Bloomington, IN. A celebration of his life will be
held 6:00 p.m. Wednesday at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel. Please

ALLEN, DOROTHY PURKEY - age 90, died at her Halls residence on March
11, 2007. She was a member of Corryton Baptist Church. Preceded in
death by: husband, Moore Allen; sons, Donald and David Allen; grandson,
Darryl Allen; father and mother, George Albert and Rachel Purkey;
several brothers and sisters. Survived by: daughter, Ann King and

BIGBY, CALVIN LAWRENCE - of Knoxville, age 72 entered eternal rest on
Thursday, March 8, 2007 at NHC Fort Sanders after a brief illness.
Preceded in death by: mother, Bessie Bigby Hollmon; step father, Hubert
Hollmon; grandparents, George and Susie Bigby; graduate of Austin High
School class of 1953; attended Tuskegee Institute and later enlisted in
the United States Army; an active member of Mount Calvary Baptist
Church and a retiree of Florida Steel. He will be remembered by: his

JOHNSON, PEGGY SHAVER - age 61 of Knoxville, formerly of Roane and
Hamblen Counties, passed away suddenly Saturday morning, March 10, 2007
at Ft. Sanders Regional Medical Center. Peggy was of the Baptist Faith.
She was retired from UT-Battelle (Oak Ridge National Laboratory) after
30 years of service. She was an avid gardener, loved photography,
knitting and travel. Peggy was preceded in death by: mother, Billie

Sunday, March 11, 2007 at Norris Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. Koontz was of the Baptist faith and retired from Flav-O-Rich
Dairies with over 30 years of service. He was preceded in death by his
wife, Joyce Koontz; and parents, Willis and Mary Brewer Koontz.

KREIS, JUNE E. - age 82 a resident of Oliver Springs went home to be
with the Lord and her loved ones surrounded by her loving family
Monday, March 12, 2007 at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge. Mrs.
Kreis was born February 14, 1925 in Hagan, Virginia. She and her late
husband, William E. Kreis moved to Oliver Springs in 1942. She was a
loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her hobbies included
loving her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, cooking, gardening
and listening to Gospel Music. Before her retirement she was employed
as a sales clerk for twenty-five years at Proffitts. She was also a
member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by: her
husband, William E. Kreis; parents, Thomas and Josephine Lee Ely;
sisters, Myrtle Henderson, Tina Norwood, Betty Walsh, Dorothy House and
by three brothers, Rufus, Gene and Glen Ely. Survivors: sons, William

MAXWELL, JAMES ERSKINE, SR. - age 87 of Knoxville went home to be with
the Lord on Saturday, March 10, 2007 at 6:45 am. Charter member of New
Fellowship Baptist Church, served on the Deacon board, member of Adult
Sunday School Class. Retired from Consolidated Freightways, served in
World War II in the 85th Infantry as a Sharpshooter, received the
Purple Heart, Silver Star, Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medals and 3
Battle Stars, was a member of the Teamsters 519, he loved the game of
baseball. Jim was a loving husband, father and grandfather and great

away Saturday, March 10, 2007. He will be sadly miss by his family and
friends. He is preceded in death by: beloved grandmother, Rosalee
Powell; grandfather, Eulous Powell and grandfather; Edgar (Bill)

PRESLEY, ROXIE V. - age 87 of Clinton, formerly of Lake City, passed
away on Saturday, March 10, 2007 at the Golden Living Health Care
Center in Clinton. She was a member of the Guiding Star Baptist Church.
Roxie worked at Imperial Reading and Lambs Inn. She was born March 30,
1919 to the late William and Ida Jane Foust Carden. Roxie is also

away Monday, March 12, 2007 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Knoxville.
Member of Powell United Methodist Church. Veteran of U.S. Air Force.
Attended East TN State University. Mr. Queener owned and operated
Queener Furniture Co. in LaFollette during the 1950's and 1960's. He

SHORES, VIRGINIA PAULINE MOWRY - age 92, of Elmcroft Assisted Living
Knoxville, passed away, Sunday, March 11, 2007 at Parkwest Hospital.
She was born September 10, 1914 at Piedmont, Jefferson County. She
married William Briscoe Shores in 1940. They lived in Scottsdale, AZ
from 1961 until 2004 where she was a Real Estate agent/broker, she was
a member of Eastern Star and a Master Bridge Player participating in
tournaments throughout the southwest and Hawaii. She is preceded in
death by parents, Sidney Mowry and Virginia French Mowry, son William
Briscoe Shores Jr. Survivors are her: husband, William Briscoe Shores,
brothers, Robert Mowry and Burl Thomas Mowry and several nieces and
nephews. Family and friends will meet, 10:45 a.m., Tuesday, Sherwood
Memorial Gardens for a graveside service at 11:00 a.m., Rev. Irby

STOOKSBURY, MYRON EVERETT - age 92 of Knoxville, formerly of Loyston,
went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 11, 2007. He
was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church and Beaver Ridge Lodge
No. 366, F&AM. He began his career at Oak Ridge's Y-12 plant during
World War II and retired as a chemical operator. He also worked at the
1939 World's Fair in New York City and owned a local grocery store and
a television repair shop. A true life-long learner, he spent his
post-retirement years gardening, reading, and enjoying his family. He
is preceded in death by: his parents, Harvey and Lula (Turner)
Stooksbury; brother, Kermit Stooksbury; sisters, Marvine Gallaher and
Zona Hutson. He is survived by: his devoted wife of 65 years, Wyvonne
(Barker) Stooksbury; his loving children, son and daughter-in-law,
Jerry and Dana Stooksbury, daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Jim
Breeding, daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Hank Sunderland; seven
grandchildren and spouses, Jerry (Jr.) and Janet Stooksbury, David and
Sonya Stooksbury, Steven and Kathy Stooksbury, Angela Breeding, Valarie
and Dale Cagle, Jennifer and Jeff Neal, and Reid and Becky Daniels;

TIPTON, ROBERT L - age 94, a life-long resident of Seymour, passed away
Saturday, March 10, 2007 at Hillcrest North Nursing Home. He was a
member of Seymour United Methodist Church. He served in the U.S. Army
during World War II and landed on Normandy Beach six days after the
invasion. He was a member of Sevier County Lodge # 334 F&AM for over 50
years and was a Past Master. He is preceded in death by: wife, Pauline
Sharp Tipton; brothers, Windell, Clarence and Clay Tipton; sisters,
Ruby Tipton, Alma Tipton McMahan and Mary Tipton Carter. Survived by:
brother, Eugene Tipton of Owosso, Michigan; several nieces, nephews and
cousins. Family and friends will meet at Greenwood Cemetery at 11:00 am
Wednesday for graveside services, Rev. Charles Burnette officiating. In

TURPIN, LUCY LEE CARDWELL - age 77, born Dec. 1, 1929, passed away
peacefully at home surrounded by her babies. She had a great love for
life and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved to
quilt, crochet and be in her flower gardens. She was also a proud
graduate of the Karns High class of 1948. Her favorite joy was spending
time in the Smoky Mountains. She was very proud of her heritage and
loved their beauty. Preceded in death by: her beloved parents, J.R. and
Cordie Cardwell; brother, Roy Cardwell; nephews, Leroy Cardwell and
Bobby Lamon; great grandson, Matthew Fisher. She is survived by: her
beloved husband of 57 years, Otis Lee Turpin; children, Stephen Turpin,

Perry and wife Becky Turpin of Ararat, N.C., Lois and husband Jason
Aycock and Bruce Turpin all of Knoxville; grandchildren and spouses,
