I know that my HALL's started in Macon Co. TN, then went to Monroe Co KY by 1860. Arnold Hall was in the civil war and I have his pension papers, which mention his birthplace, and that he had Red hair and Blue eyes, He was a minister, and one of my Aunts said she remembered him trying to prepare the Message, when they were at her grandparents house, and that he had to hush them because he couldn't concentrate on what he was doing.
On Sept 19th 1862 at Chickawanga TN. It said that he was struck over the eye by a fire brand thrown by a comrade inflickting a sereve wound 2 1/2 inches in legnth, and said that if offected his eye sight to a conciderable extent.
